It was all going downhill after Ricardo gave her the news of her participation in the Survivor Series Divas match... Why did she have to wrestle anyway? It wasn't as if she couldn't outwrestle those losers she was going up against... But the more confrontations she evaded on her way to the top, the better. It was just a matter of going to the man in charge and attempting to persuade him to call the match off or replace her for any other ditz... After storming off from Mr. del Rio's locker room, her heels clicked along the backstage area as she looked for Jericho's office. Manners were due in this sort of situation, so Eve knocked three times on the door that read “Chris Jericho, Interim CEO”. However, she didn’t wait to be allowed in, sliding her slender fingers along the doorknob, turning it to push the door open. The mexican aristocrat’s personal assistant walked into the office hoping to find Jericho there. Jericho was sat at his desk taking a telephone call. He looked up to acknowledge Eve before continuing with his conversation.
Chris Jericho: Okay that’s great... so listen, call me if there are any problems, but hopefully I’ll see you in St. Louis on Tuesday. Bye now.
Jericho ended the call then looked at Eve once more.
Chris Jericho: Miss Torres! Have a seat.
Eve grazed the room and the interim CEO with a smile, polite, yet full of deceit. She nodded and ran a hand along her bronzed locks, seating on the chair Jericho offered her.
Eve Torres: Chris... I know you must be very, very busy... With this being officially your first PPV and all... I know you want to do all the right moves tonight. I am here... Because ever since I arrived here I have found myself... How do I say it...
The paused with a playful giggle as her hazel eyes darted up to the ceiling.
Eve Torres: Unable... Yeah! Unable, to adapt to the divas division. Between you and I... I don’t think there’s anyone on the roster that matches me in ability, talent, or looks... So, being the fair woman I am I chose to stay on the sideline... Being Mr. del Rio’s personal assistant. However, I have found myself put in these pointless matches... For example, tonight’s Survivor Series match. I think it is fair for all of the Divas involved not to share the spotlight with me... Not that they have what it takes to do it...
She shrugged, batting her eyelashes at Jericho.
Eve Torres: I am not questioning your ability to put these matches together... But I need you to see my point.
She smiled politely once again. Jericho, who had been listening to Eve intently, smiled back at her and paused to think for a moment before responding.
Chris Jericho: Thank you for bringing your concerns to me, Eve. I’ve been trying to make it clear to the superstars and divas of the EBWF that they can come to me with anything - my door is always open. And as someone who has been known to refer to myself as a larger than life living legend, I’m pleased to hear that you’re so confident in your ability as a wrestler.
Eve smiled once more, and Jericho smiled back at her before continuing.
Chris Jericho: But Eve, here’s the thing... if you really think you’re better than every other diva in the EBWF, you’re going to have to prove that. In the matches you’ve had so far in the EBWF, I don’t think you’ve proved anything.
Jericho was equal to Eve’s game and continued to smile sweetly despite questioning her ability. It was getting harder and slightly painful to keep her smile on.
Eve Torres: You know what? I am glad I am having this conversation with someone, to quote what you said “Who is a larger than life living legend...”. I’m not speaking about ring skills only... I am speaking about style, looks, charisma... You know, what really makes a diva! Chris... The door is closed and whatever you say will stay between you and me...
She smiled at him again.
Eve Torres: Do you think I belong in the same bunch as Kaitlyn, ODB and Maria?
Eve laughed as if the idea of belonging in that “bunch” was funny. Jericho continued to smile as he answered her question.
Chris Jericho: Here’s what I think, Eve... I think the EBWF has a bunch of very talented divas, yourself included. And yes, I am talking about the whole package - but I will admit that, compared to the women you used to work with in the WWE, the EBWF divas are far more talented when it comes to their in-ring ability. You’re teaming with Maryse who has come a long way since she worked with you in the WWE. And you’re facing the current Sky High Champion, Maria and a former Women’s Champion, AJ Lee. You shouldn’t think of your match tonight as pointless, you should think of it as a chance to prove a point - a chance to prove that you really are the best diva in the EBWF.
Eve was about to speak, but Jericho cut her off.
Chris Jericho: Hold on a second... there is another matter I’d like to discuss with you.
Jericho reached into his desk drawers and pulled out a file. He flicked through the file and pulled out a document, which he placed on the desk.
Chris Jericho: I don’t know how long I’m going to be standing in for Wes, so I’ve taken the time to fully get to grips with everything a CEO might have to deal with. That includes EBWF contracts and I just so happen to have a copy of your contract here.
He passed the contract over to Eve so she could look through it.
Chris Jericho: As you can see, you were signed to the EBWF as a wrestler and you are paid a wrestler’s salary. Now obviously, I wasn’t there when your contract was negotiated, so maybe there was a mistake. If you’d like to be exempt from wrestling and continue your role as Alberto del Rio’s personal assistant, then that’s fine - but I would need to renegotiate your contract and I’m sure you understand that non-wrestlers are paid less...
Jericho let his voice trail off, awaiting her reaction. Eve took a deep breath in... Her smile faded for a moment so she could rest the muscles of her face before coming back at full strength... She let out a concerned sigh.
Eve Torres: I am well aware of the salary knick-knacks... Chris, you know I went to The University of Southern California on a full tuition scholarship... I know you must be baffled to come around the likes of Maria Kanellis and Kelly Kelly, you might be able to spin them around and around... But you and I, we can talk like equals... Assuming you went to a University. Anyway, as I said... The reason I am mostly concerned is because you seem to be growing fond of the “talent” -if you can call it that way- of the Divas division... Then why would put them in a match with someone who they can’t handle? Why risk their physical wellness? It doesn’t look like a smart move Chris... Again, I’m not questioning your ability to be the CEO... But you should be aware... That these Divas might make headline for pissing on sinks and performing alleged oral sex acts on TV interviews... But they’re not that dumb. Do you know what happened last time people weren’t happy around here Chris? A Coalition raised... This is a fair warning. Also, Mr. del Rio isn’t very fond of your choice for a match tonight... But unlike me, he didn’t want to come here and personally reach an agreement... He thinks he will deliver his message by breaking his opponents’ arms...
Eve’s smile turned into a smirk as she slowly raised from her seat, looking at him.
Eve Torres: Now, you could consider being a little more receptive when it comes to what we deserve... You know, to avoid consequences?
She blinked a little, still smiling. Jericho’s smile faded and Eve’s smile widened - she seemed to think that she had won, but really Jericho was simply bored of playing this game. He stood up from his chair, standing over Eve.
Chris Jericho: I am fond of the divas division - like I said before, I believe we have the best group of divas in the wrestling business. What I don’t believe is that putting them in match with you would - how did you put it - “risk their physical wellness”. To be honest, Eve, I don’t even know how many matches you’ve had in the EBWF because you haven’t gone enough to get my attention. Maria got my attention by winning the Sky High Title; Maryse got my attention by dominating the divas division, becoming Queen of the Ring before winning the Women’s Title. If you’re so special, Eve, why haven’t you gotten my attention? Is it because you’ve been hiding behind Alberto del Rio? Well he hasn’t gotten my attention either. I don’t fear anyone, Eve - especially not your beloved Alberto. If he tried to break my arm, I’d make damn sure he regretted it. Now let’s focus on the matter at hand - your complaint about being made to wrestle. As you can see from the contract in front of you, you are contractually obliged to wrestle the matches in which you are booked, regardless of how “pointless” you find them. If you refuse to wrestle those matches, you’ll be in breach of your contract and you’ll be fired.
Jericho clicked his fingers to stress the ease with which he could fire her.
Chris Jericho: You only deserve your current salary if you agree to wrestle when booked; if you don’t want to wrestle, your contract will need to be renegotiated and you will be paid less. That’s fine by me, but if you really think you deserve your current salary, then here’s what I suggest you do. Wipe that pathetic fake smile off your face, go to your locker room and get ready for your match. Wrestle, show me that you’re actually as good as you think you are, and win. If you can prove to me that you’re better than every other diva on the roster - including your teammates - I might consider paying you a wrestler’s salary for not wrestling. But until you can prove that, don’t come into my office, lie through your teeth and expect to sweet-talk or threaten me into getting your way. Because quite frankly, Eve, I’m immune to your charms and as the interim CEO, I’m well aware of my responsibilities. Don’t try and power play me, because I’m better at this game than you are.
Eve squinted her eyes slightly.
Eve Torres: Charms? You’ve been working with cheap whores for far too long... Here I am, trying to reach an agreement and you think I am trying to get into your pants... I feel... So... Insulted! So... Devastated!
Her heels clicked on her way out to the main door, which she slammed on the way out. As she walked out she found herself right in front of Jonathan Coachman... Her infuriated facial expression slowly morphed into a smile as she ran her hand through her hair.
Jonathan Coachman: Excuse me, miss Torres?
Eve walked past the idiotic bald interviewer, as if he didn't exist. But she wouldn't want to come off as too rude, so after he named her she turned around.
Eve Torres: Yes?
Jonathan Coachman: I'm sorry, I'd just like to ask you about…
Eve Torres: Do you have an appointment?
Jonathan Coachman: Sorry?
Eve Torres: I thought so… Listen, you need to get an appointment if you want to interview me, now… I'm in a bit of a hurry, so whatever you want to ask, shoot.
Jonathan Coachman: What were you doing in Chris Jericho's office?
Eve smiled a sweetly.
Eve Torres: Isn't it obvious?… As a person with experience in Sports Entertainment I was just sharing a couple of thoughts with Chris Jericho. I've been in charge of house shows and pay Per Views in the Past... I think he could use a few pointers from me. Anyway, I know you might not get this often, but I am glad you came... Because you are about to hear a groundbreaking announcement!
Jonathan Coachman: Am I?
Eve Torres: Yeah! I am most pleased to announce that I will be the captain on tonight's Divas Survivor Series match! Sure, there have been divas who have been around for longer than I have... But this is a matter of leadership and vision! I don't mean no disrespect to my teammates, but me as a Captain will result in our team winning...
She winked playfully.
Eve Torres: As for my opponents... I am pretty sure they aren't pleased to know about me being the captain. Maybe they're shaking in their uggs as I give these news. Kaitlyn and AJ sure have tagged back and forth, but so have Maryse and Paige... Maryse is our reigning Women's champion, too. Taeler and Brooke are deadweight, but eh... A win on their records won't hurt anyone... They might even get eliminated by the time I make it into the match!
Jonathan Coachman: Aren't you taking your opponents too lightly?
Eve Torres: Lightly? I'd take ODB heavily... How much does she weight anyway? Dis-gus-ting. And Maria... Our Sky High Champion... She's Sky High, hair full of hot air and all! I bet she's like, really, really happy about having this like, big match... I just hope her one neurone doesn't cause a meltdown as she processes the fact Team EVE will beat Team Ugly losers...
Eve played with her hair as she walked away from Coachman.
